Slow sluggy sad day. I didn't get enough sleep last night, felt cruddy when I woke up, but too guilty about how late it was to keep sleeping so I forced myself to get up. This flu/cold thing has been hanging in there for way too long now. I bombarded it with antibiotics, rest, liquids, vitamins, everything and it's just doggedly hanging in here, tenacious little fucker. Spent most of the day in my room going through old baskets filled with papers, unopened mail from three years ago, letters I'd written to my ex just prior to and subsequent to his moving out. Painful, super painful, but at least I got something done.

Of course to go along with all of this cheeriness, I chose to watch this utterly depressing, made for TV movie on Lifetime, about two teenagers who commit suicide and the devastating affect it has on both of their families. Weeee. Interesting cast though, Marsha Mason, Ellyn Burstyn, Paul Sorvino and Molly Ringwald. Also depressing was the fact that the little brother and sister of the boy who kills himself were played by Heather O'Rourke, the little girl from Poltergeist who died very young, and River Phoenix, who must have been about nine when this movie was made. Then as if this weren't enough, I watched The House of Mirth with Gillian Anderson.

I guess reading painful old letters, and sorting through unanswered mail, while watching movies about sensitive, good people who commit suicide, wasn't the best plan for a Sunday afternoon. Oh well, perhaps we'll remedy this by watching Band Of Brothers on HBO tonight.
